HPC Gulf teams earn ‘Best in Class’ safety award

June 10, 2026 | HPC Industrial

HPC Industrial was recently recognized with a “Best in Class” award in the Industrial Cleaning Large Category at the 39th annual Safety Excellence Awards (SEA).

Presented by the Industrial Business Roundtable (IBR) and Houston Area Safety Council, the awards recognize companies across the Texas Gulf Coast for strong safety performance and on-site safety practices.

“The Best in Class” designation recognizes companies whose safety programs exceed minimum requirements through strong field performance and exceptional best practices. The award is given to the top-performing company in each category, with only one Best in Class winner selected per category. HPC Industrial earned the recognition in the Industrial Cleaning Large Category, outperforming several competitors.

“What this recognition means to me is that what we’re doing is good, but there’s always room for improvement,” said Kevin Monclova, Health & Safety Supervisor. “Every year, we want to be better than the year before.”

The award also recognizes the work that goes into maintaining strong safety programs, meeting high industry standards, and continuing to improve year after year.  HPC earned the award during a ceremony in Galveston, Texas, on May 15.

This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the HPC Gulf team and their continued commitment to safety.

The achievement was supported by strong customer confidence, with HPC Industrial receiving 13 nominations for the award and the highest number of nominations Tonya Stevens has seen since entering the industry in 1997.

“The easy part is showing a policy. The hard part is showing how you’re implementing that policy into your everyday work,” said Tonya Stevens, Sr. Director of Health and Safety – IS West.

As part of the evaluation process, the team assembled 27 binders of documentation covering safety programs, environmental initiatives, operational procedures, and continuous improvement efforts. Auditors also visited the field to validate that employees understood and applied those practices in their day-to-day work.

For Stevens, the recognition belongs to the employees who make safety a priority every day.

“This award is a testament to the hard work that our field employees put in every day all the way up through top leadership,” she said.
